What is raster to vector conversion?
Raster to vector conversion, often shortened to R2V or vectorization, rebuilds a pixel-based image as a vector graphic made of mathematical lines and curves. Instead of being locked to a fixed resolution, the artwork becomes a set of paths that can be scaled to any size without losing a single bit of quality.
Raster versus vector
A raster image, such as a JPG or PNG, is built from pixels. Enlarge it and the edges blur and break into visible squares. A vector image is built from points and paths defined by math, so there is no resolution to run out of. The same logo can sit on a business card or a billboard and stay perfectly sharp.
How we create the vector
Our designers open your file in Adobe Illustrator and redraw it by hand, placing anchor points and curves that follow the true shape of the artwork. Colors are matched to your brand, shapes are cleaned up, and the result is a tidy, layered, fully editable vector file.
Why manual tracing beats auto-trace
One-click auto-trace tools sound convenient, but they produce bloated files packed with thousands of stray nodes, wrong colors, and rough edges that fall apart on close inspection. They also struggle with anything detailed or multi-color. Hand tracing gives clean paths, accurate curves, correct color, and a file your team can actually edit and print.
When you need vector
If artwork will be printed, enlarged, embroidered, engraved, or cut, it needs to be vector. Logos, signage, apparel, packaging, banners, and merchandise all rely on scalable files. If all you have is a small or blurry raster version, conversion is what makes that artwork usable again.
Drawn by hand, not auto-traced
Every path is placed by a designer, so you get clean nodes, accurate curves, correct colors, and a file that prints and edits cleanly at any size.

Vector is not a nice-to-have for branded artwork. It is what makes a logo or design usable everywhere it needs to appear.

Why hand tracing beats auto-trace
Automatic vectorization is fast and tempting, but it rarely holds up. It scatters thousands of stray points across the file, guesses colors wrong, and leaves rough, lumpy edges. The file is hard to edit and often useless for print. A designer drawing by hand makes deliberate choices on every path. Here is what that gives you.
- Clean anchor points, not thousands of messy nodes
- Accurate curves that follow the original artwork
- True color matched to your brand
- Fully layered, editable files
- No jagged auto-trace artifacts
- Human quality control on every file

Raster to vector FAQs
Raster to vector conversion, also called R2V or vectorization, redraws a pixel-based image as a vector made of mathematical lines and curves. The result can be scaled to any size with no loss of quality.
A raster image is built from pixels, so it blurs and shows jagged edges when enlarged. A vector image is built from paths defined by math, so it stays sharp at any size, from a business card to a billboard.
Vector files scale without quality loss, print cleanly at any size, keep file sizes small, and stay fully editable. They are essential for logos, signage, apparel, engraving, and large-format print.
